Negotiations Update 4
Today, we met with Allina management. The session started out discussing economics and the union gave a response to the companies proposal from January 4th. The company rejected all of the union proposals on economics. We than mutally agreed to use mediation for the rest of the session. In mediation we spoke more about economics and spoke openly about what each side wants out of this contract. We did not reach any more agreements. We have one more session January 20th. The company is asking the union for 0% wage increase in 2021 and reduce PTO bank down to 350. They are offering 1.5%-2022 and 2% 2023. They are also not interested in adding anything to the contract that would cost nothing but would solidify language.
The union asked to solidify the 401K language, increase wages 3% across the board, add a year 15 and 20 step that is 3% above step 12. We asked to reduce the number of steps in the contract from 12 to 10. All of these have been rejected so far. We asked to remove dead language about red-lining people on scales and they did agree to that. We asked for a premium on ALS EMT’s and Red Certified dispatchers and those were also denied.
Union leadership and the negotiations team will continue to fight to bring a fair and equitable contract to the members to vote on. Right now the union has attempted multiple different ways to negotiate a deal and found company roadblocks at each turn.
