IAEP 167/Allina Health EMS negotiations Nov 14th

L167 members,

We spent this past session discussing more language changes.

We came to agreement on very minor topics such as:

1) demographic information that will be provided to the union on a monthly basis.

2)how to handle a grievance when a member is on a leave of absence

3)How policy changes will be communicated to the membership

4)change to management doing union work(increase).

5) Buffalo and Cambridge will now be able to hire and train their own staff but be apart of the metro seniority.

We are still working on all the same issues that have been open from the start. The union and management have agreed on a few other proposals but can not come to a tentative agreement because management has refused to agree to the proposals on their face. Management is requiring that we accept a good idea with a bad idea or get neither of them. These are called package deals (i.e. agree to item a and c, or get nothing, item C would be a negative for the members. Even though item A was a management proposal.). It is all part of negotiations. The union does not believe in package deals. Each item should be agreed upon because it is good for the union and management not because its a package deal. We have not spoken at all about economic issues and we have used up all scheduled days on minor language changes.

The union has provided a few dates in December that work for us and are awaiting a response from management.
